Enjoy your lunch while you engage in an informal discussion with some of the artists from our 2010-2011 season. Programs are subject to guest artist availability. September 9, 2010 – Special Brown Bag Opening
The first Brown Bag Thursday will be held after Labor Day weekend, on
the second Thursday of September. The featured guest artist and one of the stars
of Signature’s production of Chess, Euan Morton played Boy George in
the West End and Broadway productions of Taboo, for which he received
an Olivier Award, Tony® Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle ,
and Drama League Award nominations. This spring, Euan appeared in the
musical revue Sondheim on Sondheim that premiered at the Roundabout
Theatre’s Studio 54.

Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo, Crazy for
You, and Shakespeare in Hollywood, premiered his play Twentieth Century
at Signature in 2003 before it opened in New York at The Roundabout
Theatre. He returns to Signature for the premiere of his new comedy A Fox
on the Fairway directed by Tony® Award-winning director John Rando.

Dubbed “the First Lady of Washington Theatre,” Nancy Robinette returns
to the Signature stage in the premiere of playwright/director Joe Calarco’s
comedy Walter Cronkite is Dead. Nancy has received 16 Helen Hayes
Award nominations and been honored with five Helen Hayes Awards for
Outstanding Actress.

Signature favorite Harry A. Winter joins the cast of Sunset Boulevard to
play legendary director Cecil B. DeMille. Last seen in the 2009 Signature
production of Show Boat, for which he earned one of his four Helen Hayes
nominations, Harry has been featured in countless Signature musicals
including 110 in the Shade, My Fair Lady, and The Witches of Eastwick.

Florence Lacey plays the iconic silent-screen character Norma Desmond
in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard. On Broadway, she
performed the title role in Webber’s Evita and appeared in Les Misérables,
Hello Dolly!, The Grand Tour, and An Evening with Jerry Herman.

The professional Guest Artist (TBA), who plays Third Reich
documentarian filmmaker Leni Refienstahl in the 2011 Signature in the
Schools original play, will talk about the experience of working with her
young high-school cast mates in rehearsal and on stage.

Composer Joseph Thalken discusses his new musical, Wheatley’s Folly.
This premiere marks the culmination of Part Three of Signature’s American
Musical Voices Project.

Conversation with John Rando. The Tony® Award winning director for Urinetown made his Broadway debut directing Neil Simon’s The DinnerParty, starring Henry Winkler and John Ritter. For Signature, John directs
the World Premiere of Ken Ludwig’s A Fox on the Fairway.

Conversation with Aubrey Deeker. A Shakespeare Theatre regular and
veteran performer at Round House Theatre, The Folger Theatre, Ford’s
Theatre, and other local venues, Aubrey makes his Signature debut in
Ken Ludwig’s A Fox on the Fairway.

Popcorn and a movie: Sunset Boulevard. Billy Wilder’s original 1950 film
features Gloria Swanson, William Holden, and actor/director Erich von
Stroheim. This program will run approximately 2 hours.

Conversation with Sara Jaffe. Each season, Signature features one of the
staff in our community programs. As our Director of Development, Sara is
responsible for raising the necessary funds that allow Signature Theatre
to entertain you.

Conversation with Michael Rosotto. A popular DC actor, Michael is
appearing at Signature for the first time in Art.
