21/24: I Capture the Castle Reading
Tickets only $20!
The 21/24 program, part of the American Musical Voices Project: Next Generation, returns for two nights this July with a new musical reading based on the novel I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith (One Hundred and One Dalmatians). With music by Next Generation Composer Award recipient Peter Foley, lyrics by Marion Adler, book by Kenneth Vega and directed by Aaron Posner, I Capture the Castle is a charming tale of an eccentric artistic family, the Mortmains, who move into a decaying English castle in the 1930s.
It is the coming-of-age tale of two English roses (Lauren Culpepper and Alexis Brokovic) who find themselves becoming women in romantic – yet squalid – circumstances as their novelist father (Eric Hissom) and bohemian stepmother Topaz (Natascia Diaz) focus on their art rather than their children.
Using a range of musical styles from 1930 melodies to lyrical ballads, Foley and Adler capture the confusing, thrilling and exhausting experience of growing up and falling in love in a world that appears to be spinning out of control.
You won’t want to miss this beautiful musical elegy to a time long gone, and that moment in life when everything seemed possible – and yet so far away.
Click here for tickets or call the Box Office at 703 820 9771.

The AMVP Rep: The Boy Detective Fails & The Hollow
Single tickets went on sale this past Tuesday so now you can buy tickets to all of the 2011/12 shows. However, don’t forget that you can save big with a subscription. Subscriptions start with as few as 3 shows.
Beginning August 23, Signature launches the first world premiere musical repertory with the American Music Voices Project: two never-before-seen musicals running at the same time with the same cast.
The Boy Detective Fails is a charmingly oddball tale about Billy Argo, former child wonder-sleuth, who while trying to solve the mystery surrounding the death of his young sister, discovers a world full of wonder and joy. Signature favorite Stephen Gregory Smith (110 In The Shade) stars as Billy.
The Hollow is a haunting retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. When educated stranger Ichabod Crane enters a sleepy, old-fashioned neighborhood, friends and family members start eerily disappearing. Sam Ludwig (Signature’s [title of show], Sweeney Todd) stars as Ichabod.
The Rep Musical Series offers you the chance to see two new musicals at one low price. Featuring the same set of actors and designers, this unique experience offers you the chance to get a ticket to both The Hollow and The Boy Detective Fails at a savings discount. Simply use the code DUET and you’ll see both shows for the low price of $120. That’s a savings of up to $52 off the regular ticket prices! Signature is the first theater in America to do a world premiere musical repertory series – don’t miss out on the excitement. This offer is only available through August 23rd by calling the Signature Box Office at 703 820 9771.
Click here to buy tickets to The Hollow or here for The Boy Detective Fails or call the Box Office at 703 820 9771.

The Marcy and Zina Show: August 16 through 20
Signature’s 2011/12 cabaret series begins in August with the return of two popular singer-songwriters, Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich with The Marcy and Zina Show. From August 16th through 20th at 8:30pm, this dynamic duo will play the ARK in a show that highlights their witty and romantic sensibilities. A hit at last year’s Sizzlin’ Summer Cabaret Series, this time the talented pair is back for a full five performances and they are sure to have Signature audiences eating out of their hands with songs like “Taylor, the Latte Boy”.
David Finkle from The Village Voice proclaimed that “Bright as two buttons, they sing the songs they write with the kind of wit and intelligence of the dorothys Parker and Fields. As usual on ebullient nights such as these, they have Scott Coulter adding his pure notes and winning grin to the mix.”
Tickets are only $35 and available here, in person at the Signature Theatre Box Office, or by phone at 703 820 9771.
