THE APPRENTICE AT SIGNATURE

“You’re hired!”

The Signature Theatre Apprentice program, in conjunction with the Arlington Public Schools Apprentice Program, provides selected gifted and talented theater students a professional theater-going experience.  The apprentices attend performances of Signature productions, each followed by an interactive discussion with a professional appearing in the show.  The young performers are able to question the seasoned performer about the process he uses to bring a character from the page to the stage, to learn what a career in theater entails, and to get some helpful advice on options for pursuing future theater training.

The program also offers practical experience.  Workshops are provided in audition monologue selection and preparation and in approaching “cold readings.”  Apprentices will be able to apply these techniques to auditioning for their school plays and to preparing material for college auditions and beyond.  Signature works with the young apprentices to develop skills that make “You’re hired!” a phrase they will hear many times throughout their careers.

Let us introduce you to the 2007/2008 Apprentices at Signature:
