Stage One 2013
AUDITION DATE ADDED
Auditions: June 1, 1PM to 3PM
By appointment only. Call 571 527 1854 to schedule
This workshop is for anyone ages 14-17 who is interested in the world of musical theater and wants to hone his or her vocal, dance and acting skills. Stage One is the prequel to Signature’s successful Overtures Musical Theatre Institute. The workshop provides personalized, supportive instruction by musical theater professionals so that young participants may further develop their talent. The program explores the three essential areas required in performing musical theater: acting, singing, and dancing. Taught by Signature staff and associates, Stage One students will take part in daily dance and singing classes, as well as learn how to make bold acting choices appropriate for the “larger than life” qualities of musical theater. Students receive daily individual attention within a group master class setting. The skills developed by the participants will be demonstrated for family and friends at the conclusion of the Stage Oneprogram.
Stage One runs for two weeks, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 5:00 PM, August 5 to 16. On the final day of the workshop, parents are invited at 4:00 PM to join the students for an informal class demonstration, showing basic exercises and skills practiced during the two week program. A typical day at Stage Onewill follow a schedule like this (subject to change): 10:00-12:00 Dance training and rehearsal. 12:00-12:45 Lunch 12:45-2:45 Vocal pedagogy and rehearsal. 3:00-5:00 Acting training and exercises.
Each year, Stage One is taught by the highest quality instructors in the DC Metro area. Past instructors have included: Matthew Anderson, DC actor.
