A Musical Theater Intensive for Ages 14-17

Dance Instructor Pauline Grossman leads the Stage One 2010 participants in an early morning dance routine that was broadcast on Fox5 Morning News.
Anyone aged 14-17 who is interested in the world of musical theatre and wants to hone his or her vocal, dance and acting skills, this workshop is for you. Stage One is the prequel to Signature’s successful Overtures Musical Theatre Institute. The workshop provides personalized, supportive instruction by musical theatre professionals so that young participants may further develop their talent. The program explores the three essential areas required in performing in musical theatre: acting, singing, and dancing.
Taught by Signature staff and associates, Stage One students will take part in daily dance and singing classes, as well as learn how to make bold acting choices appropriate for the “larger than life” qualities of musical theatre. Workshop exercises explored and the skills developed by the participants will be demonstrated for family and friends at the conclusion of the Stage One program.
Schedule
Stage One runs for two weeks, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 5:00 PM. The curriculum includes daily classes in dance, acting, and vocal performance. Students receive daily individual attention within a group master class setting. There will be two separate sessions available in Summer 2012. On the final day of the workshop, parents are invited at 5:00 PM to join the students for an informal class demonstration, showing basic exercises and skills worked on during the two week program.
Session 1: July 9-13, July 16-20.
Session 2: August 13-17, August 20-24
A typical day at Stage One will follow a schedule like this (subject to change):
